This tutorial is going to teach you how to add custom brushes to photoshop.
Open your brush pack up in Photoshop. If you don’t like the one provided, you can click here for like a trillion more packs.
Choose either the Rectangular Marquee Tool or the Polygon Lasso Tool from the left toolbar. They look like this (respectively).
Need help deciding which one to choose?
- Use the rectangular marquee tool for brushes you can easily draw a square around, it is faster and more convenient.
- Use the polygonal lasso tool for brushes that aren’t square, or that have offshoots that make a weird shape.
I chose the Rectangular Marquee tool for this tutorial since this is easy to outline. Draw a box around your brush so that the dancing ant selection lines show up.
Now go to Edit > Define Brush Preset.
A menu will pop up giving you the option to name your brush. You don’t have to if you don’t want to. To skip this (or finalize your brush name), click Ok.
And that’s it!
