This tutorial is going to teach you how to add certain stroke style to your sitemodel cutout.

Final Product

Materials Needed

Step One

Open your sitemodel photo and edit it to your liking. I did some black and white, and edited the contrast. Merge those layers together with your sitemodel cutout layer.

Step Two

Right click on your sitemodel layer in the layers palette (Window > Layers). Go to Blending Options.

Click on stroke, and then your menu should look like this.

Make sure that your size is set to 2 px. Click on the color and change it to color #FFFFFF. Click Ok.

Step Three

Make a new layer in the layers palette by pressing the quick layer button.

Then hold CONTROL and click on both the new layer and your sitemodel layer.

Right click on the selected layers and hit merge layers.

Step Four

On the new layer you just merged, right click again and go back to Blending Options. Choose Stroke again and change the drop down box from “Color” to “Gradient.” Choose your gradient from the drop down menu.

Then change your settings for the gradient. Again, make sure the size is set to 2 px. You ALWAYS want to put the angle to 90 degrees. I always check the reverse check box too, to make my gradients symmetrical through-out my sign.

Hit Ok when you’re done changing the settings.

Step Five

Make a new layer and merge it with your existing sitemodel layer again. Make sure that you have the pattern provided defined into your presets, and then right click the sitemodel layer for the blending options once again. Go to stroke once again and change the size to 1px. Change “Color” to “Pattern” and choose the scanline pattern provided from your presets.

Hit Ok when you’re ready.

Step Six

Go back into the blending options and add a drop shadow.

Hit Ok when you’re ready.

And that’s it!
