Reflecting Text

This tutorial is going to teach you how to add a reflection of your text.

Final Product

Step One

Open up a new document and type out your sitename/desired text.

Step Two

Right click your text layer and hit duplicate layer. Hit Ok when the prompt comes up. Then go to Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical.

In the layers palette, drag this duplicated text layer BELOW your original layer.

Step Three

Your document will look a little silly.

We’re going to fix that right now. Move the top layer up slightly, and the bottom layer down slightly, so it creates a mirror of what the text normally looks like.

Step Four

Change the opacity of the reflected text layer from 100% to something you feel is subtle enough to not look overwhelming on the sign/header you’re working on.

I changed mine to 50%.

I added a drop shadow as well to the top text layer and moved it down to a more natural spot in the document.

And that’s it!
